Company Overview

Independent product engineering from Los Angeles.

Catloaf Software was founded in 2010 and builds products across Apple, Android, and Web platforms, including AI-powered experiences using OpenAI and Google APIs.

We operate our own products while helping partners ship reliable software with practical architecture, clear release milestones, and long-term maintainability.

Responsible use of AI

As seasoned senior developers, we use AI to augment productivity, not replace judgment. We apply it deliberately, with the same standards we have always held for architecture, privacy, testing, and long-term maintainability.

That helps us move faster on the right problems, explore more ideas, and deliver richer features to our customers than would have been practical just a few years ago.

"Vibe coding" can get prototypes moving quickly, but it often leaves behind fragile architecture, security gaps, and code nobody wants to own. With decades of combined senior engineering experience and the judgment to use AI well ourselves, we are uniquely positioned to take that output, understand what actually matters, and turn it into software that is reliable, maintainable, and ready to ship.

Team

Small by design, senior by default. The people planning the work are the people doing the work.

Stéphane Peter

Stéphane Peter

President & Lead Software Engineer

A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Nice, France with a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Stéphane has broad experience across embedded systems, networking, Unix systems, multimedia, cross-platform development, and modern mobile operating systems.

He has contributed to open-source projects over the years, several of which are still widely used today.

Jennifer Hiller

Jennifer Hiller

Vice President of Web Development

An experienced front-end software developer with a wide range of Web technology skills, Jennifer is a founding member of Catloaf Software.

Her prior experience includes more than 20 years in high-profile media production, with projects for auto manufacturers, entertainment producers, government organizations, print media, and financial institutions. Her focus across those projects has been usability and accessibility.

Product ownership

We build and operate our own apps, so our advice is grounded in launch, maintenance, analytics, subscriptions, and support work.

Platform fluency

We work across native Apple and Android apps, Web surfaces, APIs, and cloud delivery, with AI features where they make product sense.

Release discipline

We favor clear scopes, reviewable milestones, production readiness, and codebases that remain understandable after launch.

What we work on

We split our work between our own products and custom development for clients.

Education drives much of our product work, including the Text With apps for faith, history, and literature and the Texts From family for devotion, civic reading, and daily sharing, alongside Fretuoso® for instrument training.
